The Notice Board

The Notice Board is interested in connection and collaboration. It depends on the generosity of internationally based artists who share their work for free. This reciprocal arrangement reinforces The Notice Board as a radical inclusive space. Mutual support is also the subject for this month’s show, with Manchester based artist Kevin Boardman and The Notice Board’s curator Kate Genever jointly creating the artwork.
Over the last 8 months Kevin and Kate have taken it in turns to draw on a single sheet of A1 paper, responding to each-others mark – before posting it to the other. The sheet has traveled back and forth across the country 8 times. This exhibitions has temporarily halted its process, revealing its current woven state. When the show ends it will be adapted again and offered to the postal gods to ensure its safe passage. Kate and Kevin have never met or spoken, yet their pen pal friendship has brought them into a potentially never ending conversation, which like their artwork becomes richer with time.
Kate and Kevin would like to acknowledge Royal Mails contribution in this work.
The flag has been created to compliment the exhibition. It draws attention to a shared initial and the process of collaboration.
