THE ART KIT
The workshop aims to break away from hierarchal and didactic modes of communication. Participants will use the Art Kit, a collection of whiteboard/chalkboard sculptures and objects (a whiteboard apron, sphere, and handheld chopping board), to open new routes to active participation, mind-mapping, and idea generation.
A whiteboard or Chalkboard is often used for ideation and communication in many scenarios. However, the object has stuck to its flat 2D surface, leading to a hierarchal environment in which one or few take ownership to implement thoughts and communicate in didactic methods.
Converting into a new range of 3D forms, The Art Kit allows all participants to be active and have their actions considered through mark-making, conversation and performative interventions.
Useful application include
- New presentation method
- Problem solving
- Performative Mind Mapping
- 3D design and Design Thinking
- Games

MIND MAPPING
This workshop encourages active participation in the creative process through mind mapping, designed for creative and educational settings. Participants will explore topics, problems, and ideas collaboratively, fostering new connections and insights. By utilising larger-scale and 3D mind mapping, they can engage in artistic interventions such as performance and drawing. Participants will learn to apply mind mapping in art-making, starting from a central idea to spark new thoughts. This approach enhances their toolkit for personal and collaborative reflection, creativity, and critical thinking and helps identify shared interests with others.
3
Back and Forth
This workshop encourages participants to embrace uncertainty and let go, making it effective for overcoming creative blocks.

This method encourages participants to share their ideas and reflect, fostering adaptability and improvisation. It helps break down creative blocks, especially in hierarchical environments, as collaboration introduces new ways of thinking and creating while enhancing adaptability skills.
Process:
1. Start working on your piece of work
2. Pass the work to another participant without instructions.
3. The next participant evolves the work by adding or removing elements.
4. Continue this process, allowing each person a turn.
4
PAPER SPACES
This workshop aims to move away from conventional paper dimensions and standard computer software programs. By physically covering rooms in paper, participants can create new spaces through drawing, painting, and collage. This approach encourages a fresh way to think about space on a human scale. This workshop is particularly beneficial for students studying spatial subjects, such as architecture and interior design, as it encourages them to rethink their approach to space.
5
OBJECT INTERVENTION
Can an object be perceived differently? Can it serve alternative functions? Can it evolve into a new tool or reference point?
This workshop aims to equip participants with fresh approaches to understanding readymade objects. It delves into the overlooked, the hidden, and the seemingly impossible.
This initiative serves as an excellent starting point for projects and provides a valuable method for participants to apply in future practices, including ideation and research. It encourages resourcefulness and adaptability, enabling participants to explore new perspectives. This workshop offers a unique way for creatives to enhance their resources with objects for future projects.
Participants will be presented with examples of creative practitioners who have repurposed the ‘ready-made’ in innovative ways. Through creating their own scenarios, participants will develop a body of work that stimulates a new mode of curiosity.
This workshop is useful for:
- Sculpture
- Product development
- Situational scenarios
- Problem-solving
- Performance
